William W. Smith

Mr. Smith joined Harren in 2014. His responsibilities include identifying, assessing, and executing investment opportunities, primarily in the business and technology services industries.

Mr. Smith has served on the boards of directors of several current and prior Harren investments including Mission Pets, AGI-CFI Holdings, Inc. and Velosio Holdings, LLC. He has assisted these companies in developing financial and KPI reporting, enhancing IT systems and functionality, sourcing and executing add-on acquisitions, and implementing best-in-class talent recruitment, employee retention, and leadership development practices.

Prior to joining Harren, Mr. Smith was a member of the Leveraged Finance Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he worked on numerous financing transactions for a variety of non-investment grade corporate and private equity clients.

A former captain of the varsity men’s basketball team at Washington & Lee, Mr. Smith remains passionate about the sport. He is an active coach and volunteer with the Virginia Basketball Academy, a Charlottesville-area year-round youth basketball training & development program.

Mr. Smith lives in Charlottesville with his wife Annie and their Scottish terrier Lexington. In his free time, he dabbles as a mediocre-yet-enthusiastic golfer and skier and works on his master’s degree in computer science. He also enjoys traveling, pick-up basketball, and supporting the UVA and W&L basketball teams.
